Professional Happy New Year Wishes: 72 Messages for Clients, Customers and Your Team
72 professional New Year wishes for clients, customers, partners and employees, with a 4-step formula, 2027 send dates and the IRS $25 business-gift rule.

A professional New Year wish has one job: to make the person reading it feel remembered as a person, not as a line in your CRM. It doesn't need to be long or clever. It needs the right name, one real detail and a send date that doesn't land in a full inbox on January 2. Below are wishes sorted by who is reading them (a client you talk to every week, a customer list of 4,000, a supplier, your own team), a four-part formula for writing your own, the dates that matter for 2026–27, and the mistakes that make a company greeting feel like spam.
The short answer: five professional Happy New Year wishes you can send to almost any client or business contact:
- Happy New Year! Thank you for your trust and your business in 2026. We look forward to building on it with you in 2027.
- Wishing you and your team a healthy, steady and successful New Year. It's been a pleasure working with you.
- Thank you for a good year of working together. Here's to an even better 2027 for you and your business.
- Warm wishes for the New Year from all of us. We're grateful for clients like you, and we don't say it often enough.
- May 2027 bring you good health, good news and projects you're proud of. Happy New Year!
Every message on this page was written by our editors for you to copy or adapt, so you don't need to credit anyone. Swap in your company name and one detail from your year with that person, and they'll read as your own.
Write Your Own in Four Moves
Most business New Year messages fail for the same reason: they could have been sent by any company to any person. Four moves fix that, and they work for a card, an email or a LinkedIn message.
- Greet by name. "Dear Maria" beats "Dear Valued Customer" every time. If you can't merge first names into a mass email, a plain "Hello" is better than a false-warm label.
- Thank them for one specific thing. The launch you shipped together, the order they placed in a slow month, the referral they sent you, their patience during a delay.
- Look ahead without selling. Mention what you're looking forward to with them, not your new pricing tiers. A New Year wish that ends in a discount code reads as an ad.
- Sign as a person. A real name, and ideally a short handwritten line if it's a card. "The Team" is fine on a company-wide message; on a client card, use the name of the person they actually deal with.
Worked example. Weak: "Happy New Year from all of us at Brightline! We value your business." Better: "Dear Tom, Happy New Year! Thank you for sticking with us through the warehouse move in March; your patience made a hard month easier. We're looking forward to the spring catalog with you. All the best for 2027, Priya." Same length on a card, but only one of them could have been written to Tom.
When to Send It: the 2026–27 Calendar
| Date | What it means |
|---|---|
| Thu, Dec 24 | Last full workday before Christmas for many offices. A combined "holidays and New Year" email sent before this lands while people still read mail. |
| Thu, Dec 31 | New Year's Eve. Fine for a short personal text or LinkedIn message to people you know well; a poor day for mass email. |
| Fri, Jan 1, 2027 | New Year's Day, a federal holiday. Most business inboxes sit unread until Monday. |
| Mon, Jan 4 | First full business day of 2027. A good day for a "welcome back, Happy New Year" email to clients and customers. |
| Sat, Feb 6 | Lunar New Year (Year of the Goat). Send greetings to clients who celebrate it a day or two before, in the week of February 1. |
New Year wishes stay polite well into January. Through roughly mid-month, "Happy New Year" is a normal way to open a business email; after that, switch to "I hope the new year is off to a good start." If you missed December, a card that arrives in the first week of January can stand out precisely because the December rush is over.
For Clients You Work With Closely
These are for the people whose names you know without looking: an account you manage, a client you meet every month, a customer who calls your cell. Warm is right here, as long as it stays about the work you share.
- Happy New Year, Sarah! Working on the rebrand with you was the best part of our year. We can't wait to see what 2027 brings for your team.
- Thank you for being the kind of client who answers emails, laughs at delays and says thank you. Wishing you a New Year that treats you as well as you treat the people you work with.
- A year ago we were strangers on a kickoff call. Now we can't imagine the calendar without you. Happy New Year, and here's to round two.
- Wishing you a calm January, a strong first quarter and at least one long weekend you don't spend answering email. Happy New Year!
- Thank you for trusting us with something that matters so much to your business. We don't take it lightly. Have a wonderful New Year.
- Your feedback this year made our work better, even the notes that came at 6 p.m. on a Friday. Happy New Year, and thank you.
- Here's to another year of good ideas, honest conversations and deadlines we actually hit. Happy 2027 from all of us.
- Wishing you and your family a healthy, happy New Year. It's a privilege to work with you.
From Your Company to Customers
A message to a whole customer list has to work for the person who ordered once in April and for the one who orders every week. Thank them for the choice they made, keep it short, and save the offer for a separate email.
- Happy New Year from all of us at [Company]! Thank you for choosing us in 2026. Every order, review and recommendation helped a small team keep doing work we love.
- To everyone who shopped with us, wrote to us or told a friend about us this year: thank you. We wish you a healthy and happy 2027.
- As the year turns, we want to say something simple: we know you have choices, and we're grateful you chose us. Happy New Year.
- Thank you for a wonderful year. Our doors open again on Monday, January 4, and we're looking forward to seeing you in 2027.
- From our kitchen (and our very tired delivery drivers) to your home: Happy New Year, and thank you for being part of our story.
- 2026 was our busiest year yet, and that's because of you. Wishing you a New Year full of good things.
- Whatever 2027 holds for you, we hope it includes good health, people you love and at least one great meal. Happy New Year from the whole team.
- Thank you for supporting a local business this year. It matters more than you know. Happy New Year, neighbor.
Mailing a printed card instead of an email? The same lines work, but add a handwritten first name above the printed text. It takes ten seconds per card and is the difference between a card that gets read and one that gets recycled.
New Year Wishes for Business Partners, Vendors and Suppliers
The people who supply you, deliver for you or refer work to you rarely get thanked in public. A New Year message is an easy way to fix that, and it's remembered the next time you need a favor on a short deadline.
- Happy New Year! Thank you for being a partner we can count on, especially when the timelines got tight. We're looking forward to another good year together.
- Our customers never see your name, but they feel your work in every order that arrives on time. Thank you, and Happy New Year.
- Wishing you and your team a prosperous 2027. Thank you for the extra effort this year; it didn't go unnoticed.
- Thank you for every referral you sent our way in 2026. We hope we can return the favor many times over in the New Year.
- Good suppliers make a good business possible. Thank you for being one of ours, and best wishes for the year ahead.
- To our partners at [Company]: thank you for the calls you picked up, the problems you solved and the patience you showed. Happy New Year.
- Here's to clean invoices, on-time deliveries and a strong year for both of us. Happy New Year!
For New or Prospective Clients
With someone you've only just started working with, or someone you hope to work with, keep the wish friendly and pressure-free. One line of thanks for their time, one good wish, no pitch.
- Happy New Year! It was a pleasure to meet you this fall, and we look forward to working together in 2027.
- Thank you for choosing us at the end of a busy year. We're excited to get started with you in January.
- Wishing you a great start to 2027. Thank you for the conversation in November; we'd be glad to pick it up whenever the timing suits you.
- Welcome aboard, and Happy New Year! We're glad our first year together starts now.
- Best wishes for the New Year to you and your team. Thank you for considering us; we hope to earn your trust in 2027.
- Happy New Year from all of us at [Company]. Whatever you're building next, we hope it goes beautifully.
From the Owner or Manager to Employees
A New Year note to your own team should do what a client note can't: name what people actually did. If you lead a small team, a short personal line under the group message means more than any bonus email template.
- Happy New Year, team. Thank you for the long days in November and the good humor that came with them. Rest well; 2027 is lucky to have you.
- Every client compliment we got this year was really about one of you. Thank you, and Happy New Year.
- We grew, we stumbled, we fixed it and we grew again. None of that happens without this team. Wishing you all a happy, healthy New Year.
- Please take the holiday seriously: switch off notifications, sleep late, eat well. Work can wait until January 4. Happy New Year!
- To everyone who joined us this year: thank you for jumping in. To everyone who's been here longer: thank you for making them welcome. Happy 2027.
- Thank you for caring about the work even when no one was watching. That's rare, and it's why this place works. Happy New Year.
- Here's to a New Year with fewer fire drills, more wins and a team that keeps looking out for each other.
For a whole-company message, keep the thank-you specific to the team or the year, not to individuals by name; singling out three people in an all-staff email leaves out everyone else. Do the individual thanks in person or in a short private note.
New Year Wishes for Colleagues
Between coworkers, the tone can relax. These suit a card on someone's desk, a Slack message or the last chat before the office closes for the holidays.
- Happy New Year! Thanks for being the person who makes Monday meetings bearable.
- Working next to you made this year easier and funnier. See you in 2027.
- Thanks for all the help this year, especially the stuff you didn't have to do. Happy New Year!
- Wishing you a New Year with a quiet inbox and a full coffee cup.
- Here's to another year of shared deadlines and shared snacks. Happy New Year, partner in crime.
- Have a great break, and a great 2027. You earned both.
- Happy New Year to the best desk neighbor in the building. Same time next year?
Sending something to your manager instead? Keep it shorter and lighter on jokes: "Thank you for your support this year. Wishing you a happy and restful New Year." For more workplace greetings, our Christmas wishes for colleagues cover the whole holiday season.
Short Lines for LinkedIn, an Email Signature or a Social Post
Public posts are read by clients, competitors and your mother. Keep them short, warm and about the people who made the year possible.
- Thank you to every client, partner and teammate who made 2026 our best year yet. Happy New Year!
- Grateful for the people behind every project this year. Here's to 2027.
- Happy New Year from all of us at [Company]. Thank you for being part of our year.
- Closing out 2026 with a full heart and a long list of people to thank. You know who you are.
- Wishing our clients and community a healthy, peaceful and successful New Year.
- New year, same promise: we'll answer the phone and do the work right. Happy 2027.
- Our office is closed December 31 through January 3. Happy New Year, and see you on the 4th!
- Thank you for 2026. We can't wait to show you what's next.
- Best wishes for a happy and prosperous New Year from our team to yours.
When the Year Was Rough for Them, or for You
Not every client had a good year. A layoff round, a lost contract, a death in the family or a project of yours that went badly all call for a quieter message. Skip "best year ever" language and simply be kind.
- We know this year asked a lot of you and your team. Thank you for staying with us through it. Wishing you a gentler 2027.
- Thank you for your patience while we fixed what went wrong this fall. We're grateful for the second chance and won't waste it. Happy New Year.
- Thinking of you and your family as the year ends. Wishing you peace and good health in the New Year.
- Whatever this year took out of you, we hope the next one gives back. Happy New Year, and thank you for everything.
- No big wishes, just a sincere one: may 2027 be easier on you. It's a privilege to work with you.
Lunar New Year Wishes for Clients
If you work with clients or partners from China, Korea, Vietnam or Singapore, a short greeting before Lunar New Year (Saturday, February 6, 2027) is a thoughtful touch, and it reaches them during their holiday rather than yours. Keep it in English unless you're confident of the phrase; a correctly spelled greeting in one language beats a wrong one in two.
- Wishing you and your family a happy and prosperous Lunar New Year. May the Year of the Goat bring you health and success.
- Happy Lunar New Year! Thank you for a wonderful year of working together. We look forward to many more.
- Gong hei fat choi! Wishing you good health, good fortune and a peaceful year ahead.
- May the New Year bring your business growth and your family joy. Happy Spring Festival!
- Warm wishes for the Lunar New Year to you and your whole team. Thank you for your partnership.
"Gong hei fat choi" is the Cantonese greeting, common in Hong Kong and many US Chinatowns; Mandarin speakers often say "Xīnnián kuàilè" (Happy New Year). Our guide to Chinese New Year greetings in Cantonese explains which phrase fits whom.
A Little Humor That Is Safe for Work
A light line works for a client you know well or a vendor you joke with on calls. If you've never shared a laugh with them, choose a message from the sections above instead.
- Happy New Year! May your 2027 have fewer "quick calls" that last an hour.
- Wishing you a year of clear briefs, fast approvals and printers that actually print.
- New year, new fiscal calendar, same us. Thanks for putting up with us in 2026!
- Here's to a 2027 where every "per my last email" is unnecessary. Happy New Year!
- May your New Year's resolutions last longer than our last software update. Thank you for a great year.
Gift Notes and the $25 Rule
If a New Year card goes out with a gift, the note can be one line: "A small thank-you for a big year. Happy New Year!" or "Something sweet to start 2027. Thank you for working with us." Put the gift's story (a local bakery, a product your team makes) in the note; it's more memorable than the price.
One fact worth knowing before you order: the IRS limits the business-gift deduction. In its words, "You can't deduct more than $25 as a business gift to any one person during your tax year." Engraving, packaging, insuring and mailing don't count toward the limit if they don't add substantial value, and an item costing $4 or less with your name imprinted on it, given as an advertising item, isn't treated as a gift at all (IRS Publication 463, 2025 edition). Many companies also have their own rules about what employees may accept, so a card plus a small consumable gift is the safest choice for a client in a large firm or the public sector. This is general information, not tax advice; ask your accountant for your situation.
Mistakes That Make a Company Greeting Look Like Spam
- "Dear Valued Customer." It tells the reader they're a row in a spreadsheet. Use a first name or a plain hello.
- A sales pitch in the last paragraph. Send the offer separately. A New Year wish with a coupon becomes a coupon.
- Sending it on January 1. It sits unread behind a long weekend. Aim for the week before Christmas or January 4.
- Religious language for a mixed list. "Blessed New Year" is lovely between people who share a faith; for a customer list, "happy, healthy New Year" fits everyone.
- The wrong year. Copying last year's template is how "Happy 2026!" goes out in late December 2026. Check the year twice.
- An unsubscribe-free blast. A greeting sent to your whole list should be treated like any marketing email: keep the unsubscribe link and your postal address. Our holiday email greetings guide has subject lines and sign-offs that don't look like spam.
- Signing with a logo only. A person's name, even under the logo, is what makes it a greeting.
Quick Questions
How do you say "best wishes" in a professional way?
Short and plain works best: "Wishing you a happy and successful New Year," "All the best for 2027" or "Warm regards and best wishes for the year ahead." Put the person's name before it and your name after it, and it reads as professional and personal at the same time.
How do you wish a client Happy New Year professionally?
Use their name, thank them for one specific thing from the year, wish them well for the next one and sign with your own name. For example: "Dear Ana, Happy New Year! Thank you for trusting us with the spring launch. We look forward to working with you in 2027. Best, Sam."
What is the best New Year message for business?
The one that couldn't have been sent to anyone else. "Thank you for your business" is fine; "Thank you for staying with us through the warehouse move" is better. One true detail does more than three adjectives.
Is it too late to send New Year wishes in January?
No. Business New Year greetings are normal through the first two weeks of January, and an email on the first working day (Monday, January 4, 2027) is often read more carefully than one sent in the December rush. After mid-January, open with "I hope your year is off to a good start" instead.
Writing personal cards too? See our New Year's wishes for cards for family and friends, and the Season's Greetings messages if you'd rather send one card that covers the whole holiday season.
